LONE STAR CAFE (demolished)
61 5th Avenue
Mid Town Manhattan - New York, NY

Closed today, the Lone Star Cafe was a club and venue that operated in mid town Manhattan from 1976 - 1989. Upon opening in 1976, it quickly became the top country music venue in New York City, featuring the likes of Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Asleep At The Wheel, and Jerry Jeff Walker.

As pictured above, the club was easily recognized by a large iguana atop the roof.

Sadly the Lone Star is no more. There is no other place like it in all of Manhattan.
